during servicing
Preparing to remove components
If you are going t o remove or change syst em components, prepare for the remo val as fo llows:
Please observe the safety information in chapter "Important no tes", Page 12.
Remove the power plug from the mains outlet !
Switch the device off.
The device m ust not be in energy-saving mode !
Close the LCD screen.
Remove all the cables from the device.
Turn the device over and place it on a stable, at and clean surface. If necessary, lay an
anti-slip cloth on this surface to prevent the device from being scratched.
Remove the batt ery (see "
Removing a battery", Page 33).
Installing and removing memory expansion

If you are asked by the Hotline/Service Desk to remove and install the memory
expansion yourself, proceed as follows:

When installing/removing memory modules, the battery must be removed from
the notebook and the notebook must not be connected to the powe r supply,
see "
Prep aring to remove components " , Page 72.
Only use memory expansion modules that ha ve been approved f or your
notebook (see "
Te chnical data", Page 88).
Never use force when installing or removing a memory extension.
Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the memory extension compartm ent.
You must open the service compart
ment to remove or install a memory module. On some devices,
opening the compartment may exp
ose other components. Th ese components should be removed
and replaced only by authorise
d s pecialists. Therefore, be sure to observe the following:
Individual components can be
come very hot during operation. Therefore, we
recommend that you wait one ho
ur after switching off the notebook before removing
or installing memory module
s. Otherwise, there is a risk of suffering burns!

d that are sensitive to static electricity, please take
note of chapter "
