Memory mirroring
Either 4 or 8 identical memory modules are required for memory mirroring:

• Supported for 8 DIMMs of DDR2-400 ( PC2-3200 )
– The diagonal mirroring implementation shown below allows bandwidth on
both channels to be fully utilized during normal operation
– Every write to memory is issued twice, one to primary location, and again to
mirror location
– Memory has two full copies of all data and a complete copy on each channel
• System Requirements
– 4 DIMMs with completely identical devices in slots 3 & 4 on each channel
– 4 DIMMs with completely identical devices in slots 1 & 2 on each channel
