You might try slightly pushing the first sheet at the start of scanning or changing the insertion direction of the document.

  If scanning does not start on your Fujitsu Scanner, ensure the USB cable is correctly connected. If using a hub, verify its power supply. Disconnect and reconnect the AC adapter/cable (power cable), waiting at least 5 seconds. Ensure ScanSnap Manager is installed. If the 'ScanSnap Manager' icon isn't visible, start it from [Start] -> [All Programs] -> [ScanSnap Manager] -> [ScanSnap Manager]. Finally, update the ScanSnap Manager driver via Device Manager, try turning the scanner off and on again, connect the scanner directly to your PC if using a USB hub, and restart your PC. If problems persist, reinstall ScanSnap Manager.

If scanning mixed paper sizes, carefully load smaller documents so they feed straight. If they don't feed straight, scan documents of similar sizes together.
