There are few legitimate excuses for making unplanned Decompression dives, and the
consequences of this type of diving can be severe. By making an unplanned Decompression
dive without the necessary preparation and training, you will have placed yourself in an
unnecessarily dangerous situation. Allow a surface interval of at least 24 hours before
reentering the water in the event a dive requires emergency decompression.
By entering decompression, you automatically impose a ceiling above you which you cannot
immediately ascend beyond, denying you free access to the surface.
Exiting the water with the Nitrogen Bar Graph in the red DECO zone greatly increases the risk of
decompression sickness, and may result in injury or death.
Existing data for making planned decompression dives is extremely limited, and virtually
nonexistent for repetitive decompression diving. Decompression diving greatly increases your
risk of decompression sickness.
