System Overview
This section contains information on system operation, descriptions, and functions of major
components. The Gilbarco Site Server hosts the Applause Media System and consists of or is
associated with the following:
• Gilbarco Site Server
• Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connec
tion to dispensers [Category 5 (CAT-5),
LRE,
and Back Room Communication Module (BRCM)]
• One of the following:

Electrical Junction Box [J-box (if there is twisted-pair wiring in the spare conduit)]

High-speed isolation box (if there is twisted-pair wiring in
the AC conduit)
Note: The high-speed isolation box is supplied by Gilbarco, if r
equired. However, the
electrical J-box is not supplied by Gilbarco.
• Various Communications Cables
• Network Connectivity Board
• High-speed Isolation Board (located within
high-speed isolation box)
• Hub for Wide Area Network (WAN) sites
The Gilbarco Site Server initiates and mainta
ins a communication interface with the forecourt
equipment. The Gilbarco Site Server communicates through a broadband connection to the
Gilbarco Control Center.
The LRE switch allows connections to eight dispensers. It is a point of contact where a server
can be connected physically to all the client devices. The LRE switch is capable of providing
upto 10/100 Mbps (Megabits per second) of data transmission.
The Automatic Call Processor - 3-ports (ACP-3) phone router or the STICK phone router
enables one phone line to connect to up to three devices.
