Required Tools and Equipment Introduction
Required Tools and Equipment
The following tools are required for the installation and service of the Applause Media
System:
Laptop loaded with the latest software for CRIND
®
and dispensers (for software
do
wnloading procedures, refer to MDE-3921 Laptop Tool User Reference Guide).
•Ethernet
®
Cable [crossover and standard (for connecting the laptop to Long Range
Ether
net (LRE) switch)]
Universal Serial Bus (USB) to Ethernet Adapter
Standard Socket Set (SAE)
Phillips
®
and Flat-blade Screwdrivers
Electric Drill (to be used inside the site, not at t
he dispenser)
Drill Bits for various wall types (masonry,
wood, and sheetrock)
Mounting Anchors and/or Screws (to hold 10 pounds, not supplied)
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Ground Strap
Keyboard and Monitor (for diagnostics)
Software Installation USB Drive or CD-ROM
CRIND Diagnostic Card (Q12534-170)
Note: A USB keyboard is preferred. A PS/2 keyboard can also be used. If a PS/2 keyboard is
us
ed, the syste
m to which it is attached needs to be rebooted.

10 BASE-T A method for implementing an Ethernet using Unshielded T
wisted-pair (UTP) wiring that is defined in
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
802.3. The first number may vary and corresponds to the data rate (10 Megabits per second in this
case).
