1.3.3. The NTP software

Here are the different states of the NTP client software:
Here is a description of these states:

The software is starting, it initializes and check the hardware if needed.
► Auto-detection:
Server auto-detection is activated. The NTP client tries to nd Gorgy Timing ser-
vers. At least one detected server is required to leave this state.
► :
The NTP client software has found one or several Gorgy Timing (auto-detection ac-
tivated) or works with congured servers. In this state, the software learns network
properties. About 2 minutes are required to complete this stage.
► :
Normal behavior, the NTP client permanently evaluate its offset and drift with the
server.
► :
Not enough reply received from current server, trying another server.
