2.5 Specific hazards
The following section specifies residual risks that have been determined based on a risk assessment.
Follow the safety information listed herein as well as the warnings contained in the following chapters of
these instructions to lower the risks of health hazards and avoid dangerous situations.
Moving parts
WARNING!
Risk of injury caused by moving parts!
Serious injury may be caused by rotating parts and/or parts moved in linear direction.
Therefore:
Never reach into or perform work on any moving parts while the machine is in operation.
Do not open any covers during operation.
Take coasting times into consideration:
Before changing the knifes your want to sharpen, make sure none of the parts is still
moving.
Wear tight fitting clothes when inside the hazard area of the machine.
Noise
WARNING!
Hearing damage caused by noise!
The noise level created in the work zone may cause severe hearing damage.
Therefore:
Always wear hearing protection during work.
Do not stay inside the hazard area longer than necessary.
Hot surfaces
CAUTION!
Risk of burns on hot surfaces!
Contact with hot components may cause burns.
Freshly sharpened knifes are very hot on the ground surface!
Therefore:
Always wear protective clothing and gloves when working close to hot components.
Before commencing work, make sure that all components have cooled down to ambient
temperature.
Spring tension
CAUTION!
Risk of injury caused by spring breakage!
Springs under tension may cause injury.
Therefore:
Use caution when working on levers under spring tension.
Keep at a safe distance.
Sharp edges
and pointed
corners
CAUTION!
Risk of injury on edges and corners!
The sharp edges and pointed corners on the machine may cause skin abrasions and cuts.
Therefore:
Use caution when working close to sharp edges and pointed corners.
Wear protective gloves when in doubt.
