Pump
The pump speed for each patient should be individualized based on body surface area and
clinical condition.




 Speed should be maintained at a minimum level to: attain satisfactory hemodynamics (MAP


, end organ perfusion) and optimal decompression of
the heart without leftward shift of the intraventricular septum or suction.
 Echocardiography can be helpful when setting speed. It can provide detailed information

positioning.

gure below). Pulsatility is affected by a number of patient conditions including left ventricular
contractility, right heart function and left ventricular afterload.

