5 Communication
For the communication to other systems or plant components use
• Ethernet- and
• Fieldbus interfaces
5.1 Communication protocols at HIMatrix Systems
Depending on the controller at HIMatrix systems you can activate different communication
protocols.
1. safe
ethernet is integrate in all controllers
2. Profibus Master, Profibus Slave and Interbus Master communication is activated after
the installation of the communication module.
3. For RS485 and RS232 (COM User Task) communication you need a communication
module and an activation code.
4. Ethernet protocols and the fix installed RS485 interface for Modbus can be tested for
5000 operating hours
After 5000 operating hours the communication operates until the con-
troller goes from RUN state to STOP state. After that the program can
not be started without a valid license for the configured communication
protocol (invalid configuration).
Order the activation code in time!

Each option is only single useable per controller.
With COM User Task (CUT) Protocols can be programmed in C for Ethernet (TCP and UDP)
and serial field busses (RS485 and RS232). Look at ELOP II Factory Online help or in the
communication manuals.
