HI 800 101 HIMatrix Engineering Manual
5.4.1.3 RJ 45 Connector
For direct Ethernet plug connections without interface elements connectors such as the
IP 20 Data Plug (manufacturer Harting
®
)
can be used. The cable can be assembled quickly by crimping the conductors; special tools
are not required.
For the connection of controllers, Remote I/Os and network components RJ 45 cables are
used.
One differs between crossover cable and patch cable.
Crossover cable
The crossover cable crosses the both receive and transmit cores of two connected network
components. A crossover cable is used when
a controller is connected directly to a computer
components within a network are connected without interconnected switch.
1000BaseT uses all 4 core pairs compared to 10BaseT/100BaseT (see following scheme).
Figure 12: Crossover cable 10BaseT and 100BaseT
Figure 13: Crossover cable 1000BaseT
For data transfer only the cores 1-2 TX (TD=Transmit Data, send data) and 3-6 RX
(RD=Receive Data, receive data) are used. At 1000BaseT each two core pairs are added for
the bidirectional data transfer 4-5 BI and 7-8 BI (BI=Bidirectional Data, receive and send
data).
