ACR Phantom (Wax Insert Only) – To be performed annually

Record results under “ACR Phantom Test” on the Periodic Maintenance Record – Faxitron
Path, located at the end of the Section.
The user should be familiar with using the Faxitron Path and should know the procedures o
f
taking X-Rays. Complete the setup procedures and make sure that the camera is calibrated,
(Note the calibration kV and time), enter the patient data, and take a picture of the wax Insert
portion of mini ACR Phantom shown in Figure 8.1. NOTE: The image will be taken with the wax
insert removed from its acrylic holder.
The Mini ACR Phantom contains 12
objects: 4 masses, 4 fibers, and 4 groups
of calcifications (specks). Each
calcification group contains 6 individual
calcifications or specks. All masses,
fibers, and calcifications must be visible.
Note: The last group of calcifications may
not be visible in this picture.
ACCEPTANCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Configure the system to take a manual image of the wax insert of the Mini ACR Phantom.
Set the kV and time to those noted during the calibration.
2. Make sure that the Phantom is clean and free of debris.
3. Place the wax insert directly on the chamber floor in the middle of the image area. Do not
use attenuator blocks.
4. Start X-Rays and wait for all processing to be completed and the image to be displayed.
5. All the phantoms’ objects may not be visible when the image is first displayed. Adjust contrast
and brightness levels as needed for best image.
6. Once the image is corrected, all groups of objects should be visible.
7. Record results on the Periodic Maintenance Record.
