If the operator does not attach
the emergency stop switch
lanyard, and is thrown from his
seat or out of the boat, the out-
of-control boat can seriously
injure the operator, passengers,
or bystanders. Always properly
attach the lanyard before
starting the motor.

Set the control lever in the
NEUTRAL position.
The engine does not start unless
the control lever is set in the
NEUTRAL position.
A spare emergency stop switch clips
are provided on the remote control
box and in the tool bag (see page
).
Leave the fast idle lever in the
START (fully lowered) position.
Insert the emergency stop switch
clip at one end of the emergency
stop switch lanyard into the
emergency stop switch. Attach the
other end of the emergency stop
switch lanyard securely to the
operator.
The engine will not start unless the
emergency stop switch clip is
engaged with the emergency stop
switch.
