SECTION 6:
MIMIC TOURS
6.0 DEFINITION
This feature allows an operator to “record” a sequence of RapidDome pan/tilt/zoom
actions that can be played back as a tour. This is similar to programming a tour, but has
the extra flexibility of being able to define a particular path instead of using a sequence
of presets. Other features can also be incorporated into the mimic, i.e. add 180 degree
turns, add presets, close and open the iris, and focus near or far at particular points, etc.
The mimic can store 4 user-defined tours (numbered 5-8). Each of these tours can be
approximately 3 minutes in length.
Note: Tours and mimic tours cannot be incorporated into a mimic tour.
6.1 RECORDING A MIMIC TOUR
Perform the following procedure to record a mimic tour:
1. Select a number for the tour (5-8) by pressing the number button on the keyboard.
2. Press and hold the autopan button, then press and release the lock button.
3. A flashing message, "LEARN MODE X", is displayed, where "X" represents the
number chosen (5-8) for the mimic tour.
4. Perform the desired keystrokes and telemetry commands.
Note: Up to 3 minutes can be recorded on a mimic tour. After this time, no
more commands will be recorded. When the time has expired, the "LEARN
MODE X" message is removed from the monitor display.
5. Press the lock button to store the mimic tour.
6.2 PLAYING BACK A MIMIC TOUR
1. Press the number key (5-8) that corresponds to the programmed mimic tour.
2. Press and release the autopan button.
When the end of the mimic tour is reached, the tour begins again from the beginning.
The mimic tour continues to run until stopped by an operator.
