Upgrade Mode Application
Scenario
Strength Prerequisites
CLI (recommended) When the device is
running normally
and carries service
traffic, the CLI is
recommended for
the upgrade.
All versions support
the CLI mode. The
CLI mode is easy-
to-operate and has
small impacts on
services.
Transmitting the
version software
requires the support
of the network
environment.
The device needs to
be configured as the
FTP server or the
third-party FTP/
TFTP server
program is required.
Web When the device is
running normally
and carries service
traffic, users familiar
with graphical
interfaces can use
this mode for the
upgrade.
The Web interfaces
are graphical, easy-
to-operate, and
visualized. This
mode has small
impacts on services.
Transmitting the
version software
requires the support
of the network
environment and the
device needs to be
configured as the
Web server.
When you transfer
PAF file and license
file, the device
needs to be
configured as the
FTP server or the
third-party FTP/
TFTP server
program is required.
CF card The upgrade
environment does
not need to be
prepared. Users who
are not familiar with
the CLI or Web
operations can use
this mode for the
upgrade.
The operations are
easy. This mode
does not require the
support of the
network
environment and has
small impacts on
services.
The CF card needs
to be prepared.
BootROM When the device
cannot be started or
the version software
is faulty, use this
mode for the
upgrade.
All versions support
this mode. When the
device is faulty or
the version software
cannot be loaded,
the upgrade can be
performed in this
mode only.
The operations are
complicated and
have great impacts
on services.
Transmitting the
version software
requires the support
of the network
environment.
