10 Maintenance
Establishingandfollowingapropermaintenanceschedulewillsubstantiallyreducedowntime,reducerepair
costsandextendlifetimeofthechiller.Asuggestedchecklisthasbeen providedinsection10.1Suggested
MaintenanceChecklist.
10.1 SuggestedMaintenanceChecklist
Itemsinthislistshouldbeinitiallyperformedonaweeklybasistodeterminetheirrespectivemaintenance
frequencies.Forexample,ifacomponentrequirescleaningorreplacementafter12weeksofoperationthen
themaintenancefrequency ofthatcomponentis12weeks.Maintenancefrequenciesmustbere‐established
whenoperatingenvironmentsorcondi
tionshavechanged.
1. Inspectandcleanthecondensercoilandairintakefilter
Excessivebuildupofdirt,oiland/orotherdebrisonthecondensercoilandairintakefilterswillcause
reducedairflowratesforheatdissipationleadingtolowercoolingcapac ities.Ensurethatthefinsofthe
condensercoilarecleanan
dundamaged.Usecompressedairatnomorethan30psi(2.0bar)toblow
outthecondensercoilandairintakefiltersinthedirectionoppositetonormalairflow.Forthe
condensercoilthecleaningairshouldenterthedischargesideandexitfromtheintakeside(referto
Figure41andFigure42).Th
eairintakefiltersshowthedirectionofcleaningandinstallation.Iftheair
filterscannotbecleanedthentheymustbereplaced.Contactthefactoryforreplacementpartsif
required.
2. Inspectthesupplypressures.
Recordthesupplypressureofbothcircuitsaftertheinitialstartupandthe
nperiodically.Ifplumbing
connectionsbetweenthechillerandpl asmasystem(hoselengths,fittings,valvepositions,etc.)have
remainunchangeditisexpectedthatthesupplypressuresshouldremainrelativelyconstantovertime.

circui
ts.
3. Inspectthecoldwaterparticulatefilter.
Inspecttheparticulatefiltertodetermineifitneedstobereplaced.RefertoFigure41forthelocation.
Theparticulatefilter’ssumpcanberemovedandreinstalledusingtheprovidedfilterwrench(typically
storedintheinsidedoorpocketoftheelectri
calenclosurewhenshipped).After`inspectionor
replacementreinstallthefilterandsumpcorrectlyandsecurelyusingthefilterwrenchtopreventleaks.

4. Inspectthecoolingwatery‐strainer.
Inspectthey‐strainer’sscreenweeklytodetermineifitneedstobecleanedorreplaced.Ref
ertoFigure
41forthelocation.Removethey‐strainer’splugtoaccessthescreen.Afterinspection,cleaningor
replacementreinstallthescreenandplugcorrectlyandsecurelytopreventleaks.Ifthescreencannot
becleaneditmustbereplaced.Contactthefactoryforreplacementpar
tsifrequired.
5. Inspectthequalityofthecoolantinthereservoir.
Accessthecoolantinthereservoirviatheaccesscap(refertoFigure42).Ifdebrisarepresentinthe
coolanttheparticulatefilterismostlikelyclogged(refertoitem2toinspectandreplacetheparticula
te
filter).Ifalgaeorbacteriaisgrowinginthereservoirthenthesystemmustbedrainedandthecoolant
mustbereplaced.Contactthefactoryforrecommendationsonthisprocedure.
