Invacare Comet - Adjusting the Seat Width-Mini Tilt

WARNING
The following procedure must be performed by
an authorized Invacare dealer or qualified tech-
nician.
1. Remove the mini-tilt mechanism. Refer to CON-
VERTING FROM THE STANDARD POSITION
TO THE REVERSED POSITION OR VICE
VERSA - MINI TILT in PROCEDURE 9 of this
manual.
2. Remove back upholstery. Refer to REPLAC-
ING BACK UPHOLSTERY in PROCEDURE 4
of this manual.
3. Remove the spreader bar. Refer to REPLAC-
ING THE SPREADER BAR in PROCEDURE 4
of this manual.
4. Remove the existing seat pan from the wheel-
chair. Refer to REPLACING THE SEAT PAN in
this PROCEDURE of the manual.
5. Remove the ten (10) hex screws and washers
that secure the three (3) crossmembers to the
wheelchair frame and the (2) crossmembers to
the seat frame.
6. Install new crossmembers onto the wheelchair
by reversing STEP 5.
NOTE: Existing footrest assembly will need to
be transfered from existing crossmember to new
longer crossmember. Refer to TRANSFERRING
FOOTREST ASSEMBLIES FOR THE SWING
UNDER/ NON-SWING UNDER FOOTBOARDS in
PROCEDURE 1 of this manual.
7. Install new seat pan. Refer to REPLACING THE
SEAT PAN in this PROCEDURE of the manual.
8. Install new spreader bar. Refer to REPLACING
THE SPREADER BAR in PROCEDURE 4 of
this manual.
9. Install new back upholstery. Refer to REPLAC-
ING BACK UPHOLSTERY in PROCEDURE 4
of the manual.
10. Reinstall the mini-tilt mechanism. Refer to CON-
VERTING FROM THE STANDARD POSITION
TO THE REVERSED POSITION OR VICE
VERSA - MINI TILT in PROCEDURE 9 of this
manual.
