ADJUSTING THE WHEELBASE WIDTH

WARNING
The following procedure should be performed
only by an authorized Invacare Dealer or Quali-
fied Technician.
After adjustments and before use make sure
all attaching hardware is securely tightened.
NOTE: Increasing the wheelbase width may pre-
vent the wheelchair from passing through
smaller door jams and other tight places. Con-
sider access to daily activities before increas-
ing wheelbase width.
1. Remove the large wheel from the wheelchair.
2. Loosen the two (2) jam nuts that secure the axle
bushing to the axle mounting plate.
3. Move the axle bushing in or out to the desired
position.
4. Securely tighten the jam nuts that secure the
axle bushing to the axle mounting plate.
5. Reinstall the large wheel onto the wheelchair.
6. Repeat STEPS 1-5 for the opposite side of the
wheelchair.
NOTE: Make sure the number of threads show-
ing beyond the outside jam nut is the SAME for
both large wheels. This will help avoid a "3-
wheeling" situation.
REPOSITIONING THE AXLE MOUNTING
PLATE (FIGURE 11)
WARNING
The following procedure should be performed
only by an authorized Invacare Dealer or Quali-
fied Technician.
After adjustments and before use make sure
all attaching hardware is securely tightened.
1. Remove the large wheels from the wheelchair.
2. a. Remove the three (3) locknuts, washers, large
washers, large coved washers, small coved
washers and hex screws that secure the axle
mounting plate to the wheelchair frame.
b. Remove the hex screw, washer, and large
coved washer that secure the axle mounting
plate and the crossmember to the wheelchair
frame.
3. Determine the position needed for the desired
seat-to-floor height. Refer to SEAT-TO - FLOOR
HEIGHTS in PROCEDURE 8 of this manual.
NOTE: If the wheelchair is in the standard posi-
tion, the axle mounting plate can be flipped over
so that it is pointing down towards the ground/
floor to obtain approximately 1/2-inches of seat
dump.
