4. a. Reinstall the three (3) locknuts, washers, large
washers, large coved washers, small coved
washers and hex screws that secure the axle
mounting plate to the wheelchair frame and
securely tighten. Refer to FIGURE 11 for cor-
rect hardware orientation.
b. Reinstall the hex screw, washer, and large
coved washer that secure the axle mounting
plate and the crossmember to the wheelchair
frame and securely tighten.
5. Reinstall large wheels onto wheelchair.
ADJUSTING LARGE WHEEL CAMBER
(FIGURE 12)
WARNING
The following procedure should be performed
only by an authorized Invacare Dealer or Quali-
fied Technician.
After adjustments and before use make sure
all attaching hardware is securely tightened.
CAUTION
DO NOT overtighten hex screws that secure the
axle mounting plates to the wheelchair frame.
Damage to the wheelchair frame can occur.
NOTE: The maximum degree of camber the wheel-
chair will allow is 4.5
o
, or three (3) camber wash-
ers. Using more than three (3) camber washers
will directly affect the performance of the wheel-
chair.
1. Loosen, but do not remove the two (2) TOP hex
screws that secure the axle mounting plate to
the wheelchair.
2. Remove the BOTTOM hex screws, locknuts, two
(2) washers, two (2) coved washers and cam-
ber washers that secure the axle mounting plate
to the wheelchair frame.
NOTE: Observe the attaching hardware for rein-
stallation, or refer to FIGURE 12.
3. Install or remove the number of camber wash-
ers to achieve the desired camber angle:

4. Reinstall the BOTTOM hex screw, locknut, two
(2) washers, two (2) coved washers and cam-
ber washers that secure the axle mounting plate
to the wheelchair frame.
5. Securely tighten the two (2) TOP hex screws
that secure the axle mounting plate to the wheel-
chair frame.
6. Reattach the large wheel to the wheelchair.
7. Repeat STEPS 1-6 for the opposite side of the
wheelchair.
NOTE: Make sure the number of camber wash-
ers is the same for both large wheels. This will
help avoid a "3-wheeling" situation.
8. Roll the large wheels. If the large wheels rub
the wheelchair at any point, adjust the wheel-
base width. Refer to ADJUSTING THE WHEEL-
BASE WIDTH in this section of the manual.
