3.3.2.1 Nozzle Orientation - Standard Work Area Coverage
e Janus Fire Systems® Vehicle Paint Spray Booth System is flexible enough to protect a wide variety of
Vehicle Booths of various dimensions. e maximum booth height is 23 ft 4 in (7112 mm). Each of the
system nozzles have been tested to protect a Work Area Module. A Work Area can be thought of as a series
of boxes’, or Modules, stacked together, each protected with a nozzle. e maximum parameters for each
Module are as shown in Tables 3.3.2.1a and 3.3.2.1b and the following paragraphs.
Maximum Nozzle Offset – Module Center Entry: Within a 2.5 ft (762 mm) radius semicircle from center
of module, no less than 12 in (304 mm) from any side of the module (booth); the curved portion of the
semicircle must curve away from the centerline of the booth; the tip of the nozzle within 6 in (152 mm) of
ceiling.
Maximum Nozzle Offset – Booth Edge Entry: Entry into the module at the closest point to the intersection
of the booth wall and ceiling. e nozzle location, horizontally, is at the midpoint of the longest side of the
module, +/- 2 ft (609 mm). e tip of the nozzle must be within 6 in (152 mm) of its entry point. is option
is allowable only for booths 10 ft (3048 mm) or less in height.
Maximum Nozzle Offset – Booth Centerline Entry: is option is available where nozzle entry is only
possible along the centerline of the booth ceiling. Maximum booth height for this option is 10 ft (3048
mm). is installation configuration allows for a maximum module side length of 15 ft (4572 mm), which
is the width of the Work Area, in this case. ere is no allowable nozzle offset for this option. e first and
fourth nozzles are to be located at 12 in (304 mm) from the front and back of the booth, respectively. e
second and third nozzles are to be spaced equally between the first and fourth nozzles. e tip of the nozzle
must be within 6 in (152 mm) of the ceiling.
In order to ensure that the longest side length is not exceeded for each nozzle module, Table 3.3.2.1b and
3.3.2.1c must be used to obtain the side length of the module, when one side is known. For example, a work
area that is 16 ft (4877 mm) in height and 20 ft (6096 mm) in width will need four nozzles across the width
of the booth. erefore, 20 divided by 4 = 5 ft (1524 mm). Looking at the 16 ft (4877 mm) height column,
and following it down until the 5 ft (1524 mm) length is located, the remaining side length is: 11.75 ft
(3581 mm).
