3.2 General Purpose and Industrial Hazards
Typically, general purpose and industrial hazards are protected by either total flooding an enclosure with dry
chemical or locally applying the dry chemical to the hazard directly. Depending on the type of hazard being
protected the following nozzles can be used in applications that meet the classification for general purpose
and industrial hazards.
e type of each nozzle along with specific characteristics, design locations and spacing requirements are
provided in the sections below.

² Due to potential splashing, LAOH Nozzles as used for Local Application Overhead protection have a maximum
flowrate in addition to a minimum flowrate. e smaller value listed above is the minimum and the large value is
the maximum
¹ Maximum discharge time is 30 seconds as required by NFPA 17. Actual discharge time to be determined by Janus
Design Suite software
³ Due to potential splashing, LAOH Nozzles as used for Local Application Overhead protection have a maximum
amount of agent discharged in addition to a minimum amount of agent discharged. e smaller value listed above
is the minimum and the large value is the maximum
