Packing Switch Hardware for Shipment 29
Chapter 3: Contacting Customer Support and Returning Hardware
Packing Switch Hardware for Shipment
To separately pack EX2500 power cords, transceivers, rack-mount kits, or direct
access cables (DACs) for shipment to Juniper Networks for return and replacement,
follow these instructions.
You need the following materials:
Original packing materials if they are available.
If the original materials are unavailable, use materials that ensure each
component is adequately packed to prevent damage during transit. The
packing material must be able to support the weight of the component.
ESD grounding strap
Antistatic bag for each electronic component
Packing tape
To pack switch hardware for separate shipment:
1. Place individual electronic components in antistatic bags.
2. Wrap each component well with packing materials for adequate protection.
3. Pack the components in the original box or in an oversized box, with extra
packing material around each item to prevent it from moving around inside the
box.
4. Securely tape the box closed.
5. Write the RMA number on the exterior of the box to ensure proper tracking.
CAUTION: Do not stack switch hardware components. Return individual hardware
components in separate boxes if they do not fit together on one level in the
shipping box.
