Performance Verification Tests
Use the Performance Verification Tests to verify the measurement performance of
the instrument. The performance verification tests use the instrument’s
specifications listed in the “Specifications” chapter beginning on page 15.
You can perform three different levels of performance verification tests:
– Self-Test A series of internal verification tests that give high confidence that
the instrument is operational.
– Quick Verification A combination of the internal self-tests and selected
verification tests.
– Performance Verification Tests An extensive set of tests that are
recommended as an acceptance test when you first receive the instrument or
after performing adjustments.
Self-Test
A brief power-on self-test occurs automatically whenever you turn on the
instrument. This limited test assures that the instrument is operational.
To perform a complete self-test:
1 Press on the front panel.
2 Select the Self Test softkey from the “Test/Cal” menu.
A complete description of the self-tests can be found in Chapter 6.
The instrument will automatically perform the complete self-test procedure
when you release the key. The self-test will complete in approximately
15 seconds.
– If the self-test is successful, “Self Test Passed” is displayed on the
front panel.
– If the self-test fails, “Self Test Failed” and an error number are displayed.
– If repair is required, see Chapter 6, "Disassembly and Repair", for further
details.
