Troubleshooting
Check A8 Solid State Drive
1. Turn power off
2. Remove SDD
3. Turn power on and check to see if unit boots up properly.
4. If it boot properly, turn power off, re-install the SSD and make sure it's
aligned properly
A3 The Fans are Not Working
The four fans are connected directly to the A5 Infrastructure board. The fan
motors are AC motors, with a DC to AC inverter built into the motor hub. The
control, voltage, and filtering for the fans are integrated into the A5. The fan
control voltage is a nominal 12 Vdc. The control range can vary from a
minimum of 8 volts up to a maximum of 13.8 volts. Using internal sensors, the
control circuit sets the fan voltage to adjust the fan speed to protect the A5
and the signal generator. The A5 will function at full output load, up to 25° C,
without raising the minimum fan voltage. The A5 Infrastructure board may
begin to raise the fan voltage at 25° C and will reach maximum voltage at no
lower than 45° C ambient.
If a single fan is inoperative, the most likely cause is a faulty fan.
1. Unplug the inoperative fan and one working fan.
2. Plug the inoperative fan into the working fan’s connector on the A5
Infrastructure board.
If the inoperative fan works, the connector on the A5 is
faulty. Replace the A5 Infrastructure board.
If the inoperative fan does not work, plug the good fan into
the inoperative fan’s connector on the A5 Infrastructure
board. If the good fan works, the inoperative fan is faulty.
Replace the fan.
If two or more fans are inoperative, the most likely assembly at fault is the
A5 Infrastructure board. The four fans are connected in parallel, so if the A5
voltage is faulty for one fan, then by design, the voltage will be faulty for all
four fans. Replace the A5 Infrastructure board.
A5 Infrastructure Board Troubleshooting
1. Check A5 power supply status LEDs.
DS40 - DS44 should light when completes boot
DS40 = 1.0V, DS41 = 3.3V, DS42 = 5.1V, DS43 = 5SB and DS44 = 12V
If DS43 is off, the CPU will not boot.
2. Replace A5 Infrastructure Board if any of the above LEDs are not lit.
3. LINK LEDs: CPU, CPU, DAC S6, UDCK, REF, DAC V6 and INF
