154 Chapter 7
CPU/Disk Drive Troubleshooting
A3 CPU Description
•USB
— 4 x Type-A ports (USB 2.0 compatible)
— 1 x Type-B port (USB 2.0 compatible) CXA behaves like a USB device
(client)
•GPIB
If the CPU board is suspect in an instrument failure, a full description of the
instrument boot process is described in Chapter 2, “Boot Up and Initialization
Troubleshooting”.
System Memory
There are two DIMM memory slots on the A3 CPU board assembly. Both slots
accept 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM memory modules. While the memory
controller chip itself does supports a wide range of DDR memory types, only
memory fully qualified by Agilent Technologies is supported. Full qualification
includes mechanical vibration and shock, thermal and power dissipation and the
basic electrical characteristics.
System Processor
The A3 CPU board assembly uses an Intel Pentium-M series processor chip.
