3 System Overview
The Keysight 34980A Multifunction Switch/Measure Unit
The Keysight 34980A Multifuction Switfch / Measure Unit acts
as switching platform for the TS-5020 system. The 34980A is
optimized for low to medium complexity/speed test
applications.
The 34980A consists of an eight-slot mainframe with a
high-speed DMM.
The high-speed DMM allows the 34980A to provide highly
accurate test system measurements such as voltage, current,
current, resistance, frequency and temperature measurements.
Slot Allocation of the 34980A
The slots of the 34980A are located at the rear of the unit. In the
TS-5020, pin matrix cards, the 34933A or 34934A, are used
primarily for measurement, switching and low level signal
stimulus. They are located as shown in
Figure 3-8. The possible
configurations of the 34933A pin matrix can be seen in
Figure 3-10 and 34934A pin matrix in Figure 3-11.
The 34980A switch unit can also provide light duty load
switching. This is achieved via the use of the 34938A or 34939A
load switch cards. The 34938A is a high power general-purpose
switch module that has 20 independent single-pole,
single-throw (SPST) 5A relays. However, due to the internal
34938A board power dissipation limits as well as the TC
connectors current limits, load card can only support 3A
continuous and 5A peak for multiple channels.
The 34939A is a high density general purpose switch module
that has 64 independent single-pole, single-throw (SPST) relays
that can switch 1A and carry 2A.
