What can you do with MIDI?
ThankstoMIDI,youcanusetheC1/C1Airtocontrolother
instruments, use other instruments to control the C1/C1
Air,anduseasequencertocreatecomplexmusicalpieces.
WhenyouusetheC1/C1Airkeyboardorpedal,orselect
asound,thenotes,pedalactivationandchangeinsound
aretransmiedtoanotherinstrument,orarerecordedby
a sequencer.
Connections
Commercially available MIDI cables are used to transfer
MIDIdata.ConnectthesecablesfromtheMIDIjacksofthe
C1/C1AirtotheMIDIjacksoftheexternalMIDIdevicethat
youwant to exchangedata with. There are twotypes of
MIDIjack.
MIDI IN jack
ThisjackreceivesMIDImessages.
TheMIDIINjackletsyouplaytheC1/C1Air’ssoundsfrom
anexternalMIDIdevice(e.g.,MIDIkeyboardorsequencer).
UseaMIDIcabletoconnecttheC1/C1Air’sMIDIINjackto
yourexternalMIDIdevice’sMIDIOUTjack.
MIDI OUT jack
ThisjacktransmitsMIDImessages.
TheMIDIOUTjackletsyoucontrolanexternalMIDIde-
viceusingtheMIDImessagestransmiedfromtheC1/C1
Air.UseaMIDIcabletoconnecttheC1/C1Air’sMIDIOUT
jacktoyourexternalMIDIdevice’sMIDIINjack.
MIDI function mode
WhentheC1/C1Airisturnedon,theMIDIparametersare
settotransmissionchannel1,allreceptionchannels(1–16),
Local On and Multi-Timbral On. These seings can be
changedfromtheMIDIfunctionmode.
Setting procedure for parameters in the MIDI function mode
1. Hold down the FUNCTION buon (for at least 3 sec-
onds).
TheFUNCTIONbuonblinksandthePIANO1buon
lightsup.
2. Press the appropriate buon shown below to select a
parameter.
Thepressedbuonlightsup,andthecurrentseingap-
pearsinthedisplay.

3. Press the + or – buon to select a seing.
4. To exit Function Mode, press the FUNCTION buon.
