8 PREPARING FOR USE 57
Make sure that the pre-delivery inspection work has been carried out by an authorized KTM workshop.
You receive a delivery certificate and the Service and Warranty Booklet at vehicle handover.
Before your first trip, read the entire operating instructions carefully.
Get to know the controls.
Get used to handling the motorcycle on a suitable piece of land before making a longer trip. Try also to ride as slowly as possible to get
a better feel for the vehicle.
Hold the handlebar firmly with both hands and keep your feet on the footrests when riding.
Run the engine in. ( p. 57)
8.2 Running in the engine
During the running-in phase, do not exceed the specified engine speed.
Guideline
Maximum engine speed
During the first: 1,000 km (620 mi) 7,500 rpm
Tip
During the running-in phase, set the shift warning light to the specified engine speed.
Adjust the shift speed RPM 1. ( p. 54)
Adjust the shift speed RPM 2. ( p. 55)
Avoid fully opening the throttle!
