The Soft Button Functions
Some of the soft buttons in Program Edit Mode perform a function when pressed.
New Layer (NEW LYR)
Press the NEW LYR soft button to create a new VAST layer. A new layer will be created
numbered one above the highest layer in the Program. A VAST layer can use samples,
oscillators, and various DSP functions.
Duplicate Layer (DUP LYR)
Create a copy of the current layer, duplicating the settings of all its parameters. e copy
becomes the current layer, and is the highest-numbered layer in the program.
Import Layer (IMP LYR)
Use the IMP LYR button to go to the Import Layer page, where you can copy a specic layer
from another program into the current program. Importing layers is a convenient alternative
to creating layers from scratch. For example, if you have a favorite string sound, you can
import its layers into the current program, preserving all envelopes and control settings.
On the Import Layer page, use the Source Program eld to select a program to copy (use the
alpha wheel or the PROG– or PROG+ soft buttons to change the source program number).
e Import Layer page allows you to listen to the selected layer of the source program, along
with all other layers in the current program (use the alpha wheel or the LAYER– or LAYER+
soft buttons to change the source layer number). For each layer in the selected source
program, you can view the layer number, keymap, key range, velocity range, and layer enable
control source. Some source layers may not be heard if the layer “Enable” control source
causes the layer to be disabled.
To copy the selected layer from the source program into the current program, press the
IMPORT soft button.
Delete Layer (DEL LYR)
Press this button to view the Delete Layer Page. You can select a Layer to delete by using the
CHANNEL/LAYER/ZONE/TRACK buttons. Press the DELETE soft button to delete the
selected Layer, or press the BACK soft button to cancel.
