perate the product. Furthermore, the use of other devices or
items of equipment in combination with the Leica HM500 also
falls within the responsibility of the owner.
The Leica HM500 may be operated by trained and qualified
persons only. Persons working with this device or with
accessories of this device must not fail to read the user man-
ual and the owner must ensure that users have understood
the contents of these instructions.

need be.
In the event of malfunctions (a blurred image or none at all)
stop using the Leica HM500.
If the device is dropped or has any visible mechanical dam-
age (for example, to the housing or to the height adjustment)
or any other damage, the device should not be used under
any circumstances!
In the event of problems or if in doubt, please contact your
dealer!
The specified IP X1 protection of the footswitch in accordance

Notes on the Leica HM500 trolley
Make sure that all equipment placed on the Leica HM500
trolley is securely stored.
It is advisable to use two people to place all heavy compo-
nents on the Leica HM500 trolley. This is particularly recom-
mended in the case of the monitor.
Electrical equipment should not be operated in the vicinity of
gases such as flammable gas used in anesthesia or similar
gases.
Do not exceed the load rating of the Leica HM500 trolley.
Observe the maximum load capacity of the Leica HM500
trolley (see Technical Data).
The Leica HM500 trolley is intended to provide a practical and
mobile workstation for medical electrical equipment. For the
entire medical electrical system to be compliant with
IEC 60601-1-1, the total ground leakage current must not
exceed the maximum limit of 0.5 mA. If the total ground leak-
age currents exceed this tolerance threshold, the system will
have to be powered via a safety isolating transformer. If an
isolating transformer is not installed, the multiple socket out-
let of the Leica HM500 trolley must not be used for connect-
ing equipment which is not in conformity with the require-
ments for ground leakage currents under IEC 60601-1-1. If an
isolating transformer is installed, the total power uptake of all
connected units must remain within the rated value for the
transformer.
If potential equalization is necessary, first connect the
optional POAG connector of the trolley to the room’s POAG
connector. Next, connect the POAG plug on the Leica HM500
trolley with the POAG pin of the instrument.
