Remove a system fan
Use this information to remove a system fan.
About this task
S033
CAUTION:
Hazardous energy present. Voltages with hazardous energy might cause heating when shorted with
metal, which might result in spattered metal, burns, or both.
S017
CAUTION:
Hazardous moving fan blades nearby.
Attention:
Read “Installation Guidelines” on page 129 to ensure that you work safely.
Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-
sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with
an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.
You can remove a hot-swap fan without powering off the server, which helps you avoid significant
interruption to the operation of the system.
Note: When removing a system fan without powering off the server, do not touch the system fan cage.
