MICR Check Reader Not Reading Properly
Problem What to Do Where to Go
MICR (Magnetic Ink Character
Recognition) check reader does
not read or misreads checks
Open the slip cover and clean the MICR read
head with cotton swabs and isopropyl
alcohol.

Other Serious Problems
The following problems all need to be corrected by a qualified service representative. See
the next section, “Contacting a Service Representative.”
MICR check reader not operating properly
Forms not feeding into the slip/forms area properly
Missing dots in slip or forms printing
Printer will not cycle or stop when required
Illegible characters
Paper will not feed
Knife will not cycle or cut
Platen will not open or close
Printer will not communicate with Host
Contacting a Service Representative
For serious problems, such as the printer not printing, not communicating with the host
computer, or not turning on, contact your NCR-authorized service organization to arrange
for a service call. In addition to the service manual listed below, other service-related
materials may be available. Contact your NCR-authorized service representative to obtain
the service manual.
