Pressthe[ON/OFF]keytoturnontheEPOCH 600(seeFigure 1‐6onpage 18).
Pressingthiskeyoncecausesaninitialbeep,followedby theinstrumentstartup
screenandasecondbeepapproximately5 secondslater.
TheEPOCH 600isdesignedtooperateusingthreepowersupplymethods:
• Internallithium‐ionbattery
•Directlyfrom
theEPOCHcharger/adaptor
• Internalalkalinebatteries

1.4.1 Lithium-Ion Battery
Thelithium‐ion(Li‐ion)batteryistheprimarymethodforpoweringtheEPOCH 6 00.
Thisbatterycomesinstalledineveryinstrument.Whenproperlymaintained,and
whentheinstrumentisoperatedundertypicalinspectionconditions,thelithium‐ion
batteryshouldprovidebetween12and13 hoursofcontinuousoperation.
To install or replace the lithium-ion battery
1. Unfoldtheinstrumentpipestand.
2. Atthebackoftheinstrument,loosenthetwothumbscrewssecuringthebattery
compartmentcover(seeFigure 1‐7onpage 19).
3. Removethebatterycompartmentcover(seeFigure 1‐7onpage 19).
4. Removethebatteryand/orinstallthebatteryinthebatterycomp artment.
