Chapter 3
Starting
System setting
After turning on the power of the S-LINK V system for the rst time, be sure to carry out system setting.
After system setting, the system can recognize the addresses of the connected S-LINK V units, and the rec-
ognized addresses will be stored in the EEPROM. After this, errors 3, 4 and 5 will be detected using the recog-
nized address data stored in the EEPROM.
Since the address data of the connected units is stored in the EEPROM, it is not necessary to carry out system
setting each time after turning on the power. For a detailed description of system setting method, refer to page
80 ‘CONFIG Mode.’
If error 3 or 4 appears on the address display, the system has one of the following problems. Solve
the problem, and then be sure to carry out system setting. If system setting is carried out without
solving the problem, system setting may not be carried out properly.
● The line is disconnected between the I/O units of the system.
● An I/O unit is added after system setting.
CAUTION
Presetting
In the SL-VGU1-D, 16 I/O patterns are preliminarily stored as the initial values.
To change the set I/O pattern, switch the transmission mode to the CONFIG mode rst, and then select a de-
sired presetting pattern number (0 to F).
The presetting pattern numbers stored as the initial values are shown in the following table:

<Example>
If the presetting pattern number is set to ‘5,’ addresses 0 to 255 will be input addresses, and addresses 256 to
511 will be output addresses.
In this case, if the number of I/O control points is set to ‘384,’ addresses 0 to 255 will be input addresses, and
addresses 256 to 383 will be output addresses.
