7 Click the radio button next to Use the following IP address and type in an IP address with the same
first three octets as the default IPA IP address (192.168.100). Set the last octet to a number different from
the number you set with the Address Switches on the faceplate of the IPA. (See the section Setting the
IP Address IPA) Making the last octet different gives the IPA and your PC different IP addresses in the
Ethernet network. The valid range is 1 to 254. Using 000 or 255 is not valid. In the example in the next
step, the IP address is set to 192.168.100.25.
8 Set the Subnet mask value to 255.255.255.0. Your window should look similar to the following:

9 Click OK. It is now safe to close these windows.
IMPORTANT: It is good practice to isolate the IPA and related devices on their own
subnet so that their performance is not affected by high volume
network traffic.
Connecting to a PC
After assigning the IP address for the IPA, and the Subnet mask and a different IP address for your PC, connect one
end of an Ethernet cable to the PC. Connect the other end to one of the IPAs two RJ-45 socket connectors. The
two RJ-45 sockets can be used interchangeably.
Verifying the IP Address
The following verifies the Ethernet is set up correctly.
