29. Do I need to purchase new stands, or can I use the stands I already have? What
mounting options do I have for my Aries tablet?
Aries tablets can be installed on other third party stands or PAX stands using the Integrated Plate.
30. What is the speed of the USB communication on the Aries8?
The sending speed of USB communication is up to 625 kilobytes per second. The receiving speed of USB
communication is up to 1,216 kilobytes per second.
31. What is the PAXSTORE?
The PAXSTORE is an online marketplace for terminal applications and provides terminal management
solutions. The PAXSTORE connects merchants and their PAX terminals with the opportunity to purchase
and download applications. It also provides application developers a way to upload applications to be
available online. It also supports terminal management with download control and parameter
configuration.
32. Can the Aries8 download applications from the PAXSTORE?
Yes, the Aries8 uses the PAXSTORE client application installed on the Aries6 tablet to access the
PAXSTORE. It will display available applications on the PAXSTORE for download and supports applications
configured to be pushed from the PAXSTORE which may or may not be displayed on the store.
33. Is the terminal available in other colors?
The standard color for the terminal is black with silver trim. Custom color plastics are available for an
additional charge and minimum order quantity.
34. Can I have a custom logo printed on the terminal?
Some appearance customizations, including logos printed on the terminal, are available. To have a logo
printed on the terminal, the customer must provide PAX with the image in AI, CDR, or ESP format, the
PANTONE color definition for each color used in the design, and a confirmation of the exact location
where the image should be positioned.
Fees vary depending on the complexity of the job and the quantity required.
35. Keypad users with large hands can’t reach the 1, 2, 3, and the Cancel (X) key when
the privacy shield is installed. What can I do?
PAX has implemented two things to make access to the keypad while the privacy shield is installed easier
for the consumer:
• The privacy shield is made of a soft rubber material that can be easily removed, by the consumer,
to provide additional access space for larger hands and fingers, more delicate hands and fingers,
or long fingernails. Although this might not be intuitive for consumers, the application on the
Aries tablet can display an animated GIF file that demonstrates this.
• The Aries tablets physical keys have been enlarged to make it easier for anyone, with any size
hands and fingers to actuate the keys.
Finally, retailers always have the option of addressing the PCI PIN entry privacy requirements via
alternative means, such as providing physical shielding (walls) in the POS check stand. In these cases, the
Aries privacy shield is not required at all.
