18. Is there a way to order/configure an Aries8 Pro tablet alone (no Plate) to include a
tethered stylus pen?
No. The pen can be ordered separately but there is no way to attach the stylus pen holder.
19. Can additional storage be added to the Aries tablet?
Yes, each Aries tablet includes a microSD slot which allows extending the terminal memory up to 64GB.
20. Can I use the same handle for Aries8 and Aries8 Pro tablets?
Yes, you can use the same handle on both Aries tables.
21. Why can’t I attach the handle to the tablet?
If you can’t get the handle to attach to the tablet, the handle is probably facing in the wrong direction.
The orange scanner button on the handle should be on the side facing the orange card reader opening.
22. How can I tell if the battery in the Aries handle is charging?
There is a power indicator light on the Aries handle.
• A red indicator shows that the device is charging.
• A green indicator shows that charging is complete.
• Red and green indicators flashing alternately indicate a charging problem.
23. How do I use the scanner? I can’t get it to light.
The handle must be attached before you can use the scanner. Press the scan button and direct the red
scanner light onto a supported barcode or QR code.
24. When should I use the camera and when should I use the scanner?
Although you can set up your transaction flow however you wish, PAX recommends that you use the
camera for scanning payment and for taking pictures and use the scanner for checking inventory and item
selection.
25. How does the camera work when you use it for scanning?
First, the Aries takes a picture of the barcode or QR code but does not store it. Next the image is read and
forwarded to the software library that includes all of the published codes for decoding. Finally, the code is
analyzed, and the data is sent to the camera.
26. How far away can the Aries6 scanner read a barcode or a QR code?
The answer ranges from as close as 40 millimeters to as far as 310 millimeters, depending on the type of
the symbol and its density.
27. When I hold down the power button, my Aries tablet won’t power up. What should I
do?
If your Aries tablet has not been charged recently, the battery may have run down. Ensure your tablet is
plugged into its power source. Once the tablet is connected to the power source, even if the battery
charge is low, you can power up the tablet. The battery percentage displays on the screen as it charges.
If the tablet still won’t power up when it is connected to the power source, keep the tablet connected to
the power source and try to power it up again in a few minutes.
28. Does the tablet have a camera?
Yes, the Aries8 has a front-facing 8-megapixel autofocus camera with integrated flash.
