Troubleshooting Section
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
System Response:
The ECM will log
the diagnostic code and the ECM
will trigger a snapshot. The check engine lamp will
illuminate while this diagnostic code is active. An
active diagno
stic code may not cause any noticeable
effect on engine response unless the voltage drops
below 6.5 VDC.
Possible Performance E ffect:
The engine ma
y be limited to low idle.
Troubleshooting:
This signal is not normally used in this application.
If this diagnostic code is observed, check the
associated w
iring on the engine.
Refer to the Engine Electrical Schematic.
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Conditions Which G enerate This Code:
The Electro
nic Control Module (ECM) detects the
following conditions:
•
ECM has been
powered for at least 3 seconds.
•
A signal voltage for the throttle position is above
normal.
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
System Response:
If equipped
, the warning light will come on. The ECM
will trigger a snapshot. The ECM logs the diagnostic
code if the engine is running. The diagnostic codes
canbeview
ed on the electronic service tool. The
ECM will return the engine to low idle.
Possible P

Reduced engine speed
Troubleshooting:
Monitor the configuration screen on the electronic
service tool in order to determine the type of speed
demand circui
t that is used on the engine.
If the engine is equipped with an analog speed
demand circui
t, proceed to “Test Step 1”.
If the engine is equipped with a digital speed demand
circuit, proc
eed to “Test Step 2”.
Test Step 1.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Speed
Demand Circuit (Analog) - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.
Test Step 2.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Speed
Demand Circuit (Digital) - Test”

OK – STOP.
