Conditions Which G enerate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
following condition:
The signal from the keyswitch was erratic because
the keyswitch was cycled at least three times within
the last secon
d.
Note: This code can be generated by rapidly
cycling the ke
yswitch. Some control modules on
the application may require this action in order to
prompt ash codes. If this occurs, clear the logged
diagnostic c
odes in order to prevent future confusion
or an incorrect diagnosis.
System Respo
nse:
The ECM will log the diagnostic code and the warning
lamp will co
me on while this diagnostic code is active.
The ECM will stop energizing the injector solenoids
and the engine will shut down.
Possible Performance E ffect:
Engine shut
down
Troubleshooting:
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: Ignition
Keyswitch Circuit and Battery Supply Circuit - Test”
Results:
OK STOP.

Conditions Which G enerate This Code:
The Electr
onic Control Module (ECM) has detected a
high current condition (short circuit) after attempting
to activate the glow plug starting aid.
The ECM detects the following conditions:
The engine
is not cranking.
The ECM has been powered for at least 1 second.
There is a high current condition (short circuit) for
more than 2 seco
nds.
System Response:
The ECM will log the code. An ECM that was
previously blank will require a total of 2 hours of
operation bef
ore the diagnostic code will be logged. If
equipped, the warning light will come on. The ECM is
unabletoactivatetherelayfortheglowplugstarting
aid. The glow
plugs will not operate or the glow plugs
will operate all the time.
Possible Per
formance Effect:
The engine may be difcult to start in cold
temperature
s and the exhaust may emit white smoke.
Troubleshooting:
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Starting
Aid (Glow Plug) Relay Circuit - Test”
Results:
OK STOP.
