Troubleshooting Section
Troubleshooting:
Monitor the configuration screen on the electronic
service tool in order to determine the type of speed
demand circui
t that is used on the engine.
If the engine is equipped with an analog speed
demand circui
t, proceed to “Test Step 1”.
If the engine is equipped with a digital speed demand
circuit, proc
eed to “Test Step 2”.
Test Step 1.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Speed
Demand Circuit (Analog) - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.
Test Step 2.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Speed
Demand Circuit (Digital) - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Conditions Which G enerate This Code:
The Electron
ic Control Module (ECM) detects the
following conditions:
•
The signal f
requency from the digital speed
demand circuit is less than 150 Hz or the signal
frequency is greater than 1050 Hz for more than
two seconds
.
•
The ECM has been powered for at least three
seconds.
•
Diagnostic code 0091-03 is not active.
•
Diagnostic code 0091-04 is not active.
System Resp
onse:
The ECM sets the “Throttle Po si tion” to “0%”.
If equipped, the warning light will be on. The ECM
will trigger a s
napshot. The diagnostic code will be
logged if the engine is running. The diagnostic code
will not be logged if the engine is cranking.
Possible Performance Effect:
The engine may
remain at low idle while the
diagnostic code is active.
Troubleshoot
ing:
This diagnostic code indicates that the frequency of a
digital thro
ttle signal is out of the normal range.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Speed
Demand Circu
it (Digital) - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
following conditions:
•
The signal voltage from the engine oil pressure
sensor is greater than 4.95 Volts DC for more than
eight secon
ds.
•
The ECM has been powered for at least two
seconds.
•
The engine is not running or the engine coolant
temperatur
e is greater than 38 °C (100 °F).
System Response:
The ECM will log the diagnostic code. If equipped,
the warning lamp will come on. The ECM will set data
for engine o
il pressure to the default value.
Note: The engine oil pressure that is displayed on
the electr
onic service tool is the default value for
engine oil pressure. The default engine oil pressure
is 6 00 kPa (87 psi). The electronic service tool
will displ
ay “Voltage Above Normal” on the status
screens.
