Troubleshooting Test Steps

4. Override the SCR Intake NOx Sensor
A.Connect the electronic service tool to the diagnostic connector.
B. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
C. Use the electronic service tool to perform the Aftertreatment
#1 Intake NOx Level Sensor Power Supply Override .
D. Check for active diagnostic codes.

Result: The 3216-12 diagnostic code is no longer active.
Proceed to Test Step 8.
Result: The 3216-12 diagnostic code is still active.
Repair: Ensure that the latest engine software is installed.
Refer to Troubleshooting, ECM Software - Install for the
correct procedure.
Install a replacement NOx sensor. Refer to Disassembly
and Assembly for the correct procedure.
Proceed to Test Step 8.
5. Override the SCR Outlet NOx Sensor
A. Connect the electronic service tool to the diagnostic connector.
B. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
C. Use the electronic service tool to perform the Aftertreatment
#1 Outlet #1 NOx Level Sensor Power Supply Override .
D. Check for active diagnostic codes.

Result: The 3226-12 diagnostic code is no longer active.
Proceed to Test Step 8.
Result: The 3226-12 diagnostic code is still active.
Repair: Inspect the SCR outlet NOX sensor probe. If
there are soot deposits on the probe, the DPF may have
failed.
Ensure that the latest engine software is installed. Refer
to Troubleshooting, ECM Software - Install for the correct
procedure.
If the SCR outlet sensor probe does not have soot depos-
its, install a replacement NOx sensor. Refer to Disassem-
bly and Assembly for the correct procedure.
Proceed to Test Step 8.
6. Override the Ammonia Sensor
A. Connect the electronic service tool to the diagnostic connector.
B. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
C. Use the electronic service tool to reset the active 4377–12 di-
agnostic code.
D. Use the electronic service tool to perform the Aftertreatment
#1 DEF Dosing Control Module Key Switch Line Override .
E. Check for active diagnostic codes.

ble codes
Result: The 4377-12 diagnostic code is no longer active.
Proceed to Test Step 8.
Result: The 4377-12 diagnostic code is still active.
Repair: Install a replacement ammonia sensor. Refer to
Disassembly and Assembly for the correct procedure.
Check that diagnostic code 4377-12 is no longer active. If
the code is still active, replace the controller and then con-
firm that the fault has been eliminated.
If the fault is still present, proceed to Test Step 7.
