  If local participants can't hear remote participants, verify that the audio from the remote participants is routed through the matrix to the local amplifier outputs. Ensure the amplifier is turned on, and test if other audio sources can be heard in the local room by adding a Signal Generator from the Edit Channels control and routing it to the amplifier virtual channel. Also, check the wiring for the amplifier virtual channel on the wiring page and confirm the audio from the remote participants is not muted either locally or at the remote site.

  If local participants hear an echo of their voices from the remote room, ask the remote participants to mute their microphones to see if the echo is removed. If the echo stops when they mute, troubleshoot the remote room’s AEC. If muting the remote participants' microphones doesn't resolve the issue, check the routing of the remote audio matrix to ensure audio from the local room isn't being sent directly back to the local room.

  If remote participants can't hear local participants, ensure the audio from the local participants is routed through the matrix to the remote participants. Also, check if the microphones are unmuted and can be routed to the amplifier. Verify the wiring for the remote virtual channels on the wiring page matches how the system is actually wired. If microphones can be routed to the amplifier, lower the gain at the crosspoint.

Why won’t the control system mute the microphones on my Polycom SoundStructure C16?

  If the control system isn't muting the microphones, first check that the command from the control system isn’t generating any error messages. Next, ensure that the control system is connected to the SoundStructure device over RS-232 or Ethernet and is able to send commands to the SoundStructure device. If muting the microphones using the default virtual channel group "Mics", the command syntax should be: 'mute Mics'.
