6. USER INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Usage - Condions and starng points
The condions and starng points that follow are applicable when you use the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ.
Delay me
Limits duty cycle RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor
The duty cycle of the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor has limits. In operaon the powerful motor, in the small
housing, causes much heat. Make sure that the relaon between running me and rest me is
sasfactory to let the temperature of the tube motor decrease suciently. The maximum running
me is shown in minutes as kb (Kurzbetrieb). The maximum running me (kb) is calculated at an
ambient temperature of 20°C. The kb-value of the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor is 10 minutes. The period at
which the temperature decreases suciently must be approximately 15 mes the running me.
Eects on an RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor in a roller screen
A tube motor in a roller screen generally operates in the condions that follow. These have an eect
on the running mes and rest mes.
The ambient temperature is generally more than 20°C. This makes the kb-value decrease. The kb-
value decreases more if the ambient temperature becomes higher.
The screen cloth isolates the tube of the motor. Because of this more me is necessary to let the
temperature of the tube motor decrease to the ambient temperature.
If the tube motor is connuously started and stopped, for short periods, this will cause more
heat. The maximum duty cycle will decrease and more me is necessary to let the temperature of
the tube motor decrease to the ambient temperature.
Thermal protecon
The electric motor of the RB50Eᵖˡᵘˢ tube motor has a thermal protecon. If the motor temperature
becomes higher than 120 °C the system stops.
The causes that follow are possible:
Running me too long
Time too short to let the temperature decrease (tube motor at rest posion)
Started and stopped for short periods too many mes
An overload.
The delay me must be approximately 0.5 seconds when you change
the direcon-of-rotaon. The electric motor must stop.
This prevents that it connues in the inial direcon.
The motor can start and stop automacally without a warning but
will stay energized! De-energize the system before the work starts!
The temperature of the motor can become more than 120 °C. If
necessary take protecve precauons to prevent injuries!
If the maximum duty cycle is ignored this can cause malfuncons.
Because of this the tube motor can become defecve.
