Water pumps are not self-priming pumps, so the required vacuum is creat-
ed by a priming pump.
The priming pump is driven by a v-belt. The priming pump is a double-act-
ing piston pump.
Functionality
When the priming pump is activated, the solenoid valve in the suction line
opens.
The priming pump is driven via the pump shaft. The rotating eccentric sets
the piston in a back and forth movement.
During the priming process a vacuum is produced. During the exhaust pro-
cess a excess pressure is produced.
The suction process sucks the air out of the water pump and the suction
hoses and forces water into the water pump.
If water is expelled at the priming pump, the solenoid valve in the suction
line closes. The priming pump is deactivated. The priming procedure is
completed.
