1. DESCRIPTION OF DEVICE
1.1 Intended use
The seca 787 and seca 797 measuring stations are used in accordance with
national regulations primarily in hospitals, medical practices and in-patient
care facilities.
The
seca 787 and seca 797 measuring stations are for conventional determi-
nation of weight and height and for determining the general state of nutrition;
they support the attending physician in making a diagnosis or deciding on a
course of treatment.
To make an accurate diagnosis, however, the physician needs to commission
other specific examinations and take their results into account, in addition to
determining weight and height.
1.2 Description of function
Measuring station On the seca 787 and seca 797 measuring stations, weight is recorded by four
load cells. Height is recorded with the integrated measuring rod. Height val-
ues above 1.22 m are recorded digitally. Height values below 1.22 m are read
off by the user and recorded manually.
Body mass index (BMI) can be calculated automatically from the measuring
results.
USB interface (seca 797 only) A barcode scanner can be connected to the USB interface. This allows users
and patients to be identified by means of their barcodes and measuring
results assigned in the EMR system.
Internal interface module (seca 797
only)
With the aid of the internal interface module, the seca 797 measuring station
can transmit data to the seca connect 103 software via a WiFi connection.
External interface module (optional
accessory for seca
787)
With the aid of the seca 452 external interface module, the seca 787 measur-
ing station can transmit data to the
seca connect 103 software via a WiFi or
LAN connection.

(optional accessory)
The seca connect 103 software receives measured data from an internal or
external interface module and transmits it to an EMR system.
1.3 User qualification
Assembly Devices that are shipped partially assembled may only be mounted by suffi-
ciently qualified persons such as specialist dealers, hospital technicians or
seca Service technicians.
Operation The device may only be operated by healthcare professionals.
Administration
(seca 797 only)
The device may only be set up and incorporated in a network by experienced
administrators or hospital technicians.
