Term Definition or Usage
Access hatch Opening in the Centrifuge module table top for
loading and unloading cassettes.

Solutions
A term used by Siemens to describe its product line of
automated systems, including the ADVIA LabCell and
ADVIA WorkCell CDX systems.
Each automation system is comprised of modular
components used to create laboratory automation
solutions for sample tube management.
Barcode Lines of varying widths that can be read optically with
a scanning device.
Barcode reader Optical character reader that can read data
represented by bar codes and translate the codes into
digital signals.
Bucket One of 4 containers in the Hettich unit that are used
for loading and unloading.
Each bucket holds 1 cassette.
Cassette Tray that holds sample tubes during the Centrifuge
procedure.
Cold storage Refrigerated area for storing completed sample tubes.
Decapper
module
Module that automatically removes caps from sample
tubes before processing.
Divert gate Station that moves sample tubes from the main track
onto a side track.
E-stop Emergency button or cord that stops all mechanical
action.
Event log LineMaster window that archives and displays event
messages and recommended corrective actions.
Gate Stations that move tubes to and from the main track
to an instrument (Divert gate) or to present tubes for
an instrument or manual loading and unloading
(Interface gate).
