PROFIBUS slaves have different performance characteristics.
To ensure that each slave with its individual properties can be correctly addressed
by any master, the characteristic features of a slave are listed in its device master
data file (GSD).
Device master data file (GSD)
The device master data file for the MICROMASTER4 PROFIBUS optional board
(SIEM80B5.GSD) is stored on the documentation CD for MICROMASTER4.
Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the Internet (www.profibus.com).

The MICROMASTER4 is operated as a normal standard DP slave on a SIMATIC
S5. The IM308C is normally installed as the master module. The COM PROFIBUS
tool can be used to configure the master station.
You will find the MICROMASTER4 under DP Slaves in the "Drives", "SIMOVERT"
group.
For further information about configuring the data exchange between a
MICROMASTER4 and a SIMATIC S5, please refer to the description of block
package DVA-S5.

Block package DVA_S5 (Variable-Speed Drives on SIMATIC S5) organizes the
data exchange between SIMATIC and SIMOVERT slaves in accordance with the
PROFIDrive Profile version 2.0 and thus simplifies the creation of the user
program. A uniform data block is always provided as the data interface, irrespective
of which S5-CPU executes the program. The programmer does not therefore need
any in-depth knowledge of the SIMATIC S5 system architecture or any system
functions required.
