7.1 General Electrical
Standard Work Practice
Prior to performing any type of electrical work on the equipment, be sure to read and understand
all vendor supplied information and all information presented in the Safety Notes chapter of this
manual.
DANGER
Ensure the entire drive is earth grounded.
Failure to install proper grounding connections may result in death or cause damage to the
drive.
NOTICE
Do not bond the SINAMICS Perfect Harmony
™
GH180 transformer primary winding
neutral point to ground.
The SINAMICS Perfect Harmony
™
GH180 transformer primary winding neutral point is designed
to operate oating (ungrounded).
Failure to adhere to this instruction will cause large, unbalanced currents to circulate in the
ground / neutral path of the drives' input source system during drive energization.
Note
EMC Compliance
To maintain EMC compliance, input medium voltage wiring must be installed in metallic
electrical conduit and routed through the approved access plates.
Customer supplied low voltage I/O cabling #12-#28 (4.0 - 0.8 mm
2
) AWG must be routed
separately from power cables / medium voltage cables. Maintain cable shield integrity for the
entire length of the shielded low voltage cable including all interconnections. The cable shield
shall be terminated to ground only at the source end of the cable.
