10.7.4 Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger Cleaning
Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger Cleaning
Drives with option code M58 are equipped with air-to-air heat exchangers. They isolate internal
air from external air and may be cleaned while installed in the drive.
To clean the air-to-air heat exchanger, perform the steps as indicated:
1. If equipped, remove any screen over the heat exchanger. Visually check to see if any part
removed has gasket installed. The gasket is critical for sealing and must be in place for
cleaning.
2. Rinse the heat exchanger with water by using a high pressure cleaner to remove dust,
particles, deposits, and other similar debris.
Notes:
– Have the nozzle adjusted to a plane jet.
– Spray water into the area between the plates.
– Vary the spray angle between +30 and -30 degrees from the opening of a distance of
300 mm (11°) from the entrance as shown in the gure HEX Cleaning Using Water.

3. Spray heat exchanger plates with a mild dish detergent/water mixture from the pressure
sprayer.
4. Repeat Step 1 until all the detergent is removed.
