01.93 4 Programming of Motion Blocks
4.2.6 Feedrate F, G94, G95, G96, G97, G195
Note:
• After POWER ON, the display of the type of feedrate is a random display. After the end of
the program, the display corresponds to the type of feedrate of the last program executed.
The correct reset position of the type of feedrate is not displayed until a part program is
started.
• In the case of blocks with G95/G96/G195, the path speed is derived from the programmed
speed of the spindle or rotary axis according to the following formula:
v = n · F v = Path speed
n = Speed of spindle or rotary axis
F = Feedrate per revolution
This path speed must not exceed the maximum speed of the axis (machine data). In addition,
the maximum path speed is limited by the scanning time.
If the maximum path speed is exceeded, the alarm ”Programmed speed to high” is triggered.
Constant cutting speed G96 S..
A constant cutting speed can be entered under address S with G96: G96 F. . S. . Constant
cutting speed in m/min or feet/min. If G96 (constant cutting speed) is active, M19 must not be
programmed in the part program. The spindle override affects the limited speed (setting data)
and not the theoretically possible speed.
Example for turning machine:
The control determines the spindle speed for the current turning diameter in accordance with
the programmed cutting speed.
N5. . G96 F. .S. .
The relationship between the turning diameter, the spindle speed and the feed motion permits
optimum matching of the program to the machine, the material being machined and the tool.
The zero of the X axis must be the turning centre. This is ensured by the reference point
approach.
When calculating the spindle speed for the constant cutting speed, the following values are
taken into consideration:
• Actual value
• Tool length compensation
• Zero offset in the X direction
• Settable zero offset G54, G55, G56, G57
• Programmable zero offset G58, G59
• External zero offset
Zero offset in the X axis can be used to displace the tool carrier.
Reference is always made to the workpiece zero when determining the spindle speed.
One gear speed only is used for a constant cutting speed. It is not permissible to change the
gear speed. The relevant gear speed must be selected in advance.
